It all began on a Sunday, the 29th of August. All volunteers met at Camp Lost to put up their tent, discuss the program for the week with the crew and to have a pre-party. Monday the 30th of August, the first year students arrived, put up their tent, received a goodie bag full of useful information and a t-shirt, an orange t-shirt saying inmate. Camp Lost was changed into a state penitentiary for this year. After the welcoming and formation of the teams, Camp Lost 2010 could start.
First the serious stuff had to be taken care of, so off to school for the pictures of the students cards. Also different introduction lectures were given to the inmates of the different studies. After scaring the inmates with situations that they will have to cope with the coming years, everyone went back to the camp.
Back at the camp the games started. The teams competed for one night in the Cube Hotel, a more luxury tent with beds in it plus a filled refrigerator. That’s what everybody wants, right!? After games as ‘putting a rope through every group member’s clothes’, ‘passing a parcour with a spoon in your mouth with a mandarin on it’ and ‘mega Twister’, it was freshing up and party time. First partying at the campsite and then bar hopping in the centre of Breda.
It was a short night, but the inmates were woken up early for a brand new day at Camp Lost, Tuesday the 31st of August. Starting the day with chow time and after that the trading game. All teams received a paperclip and had to trade this to something bigger. Every trade needed a photo and the team that brought back the most valuable thing won the one night in the famous Cube Hotel. After a while in the city, teams brought back computers, bicycles, a performance of the Gebroeders Ko etcetera. This all was “sold” in an auction for Camp Lost dollars. These Camp Lost dollars were used to buy songs and costumes for the playbackshow later that night.
Every team practiced their act and performed this in the evening. To summarize this playback show: most guys were girls and most girls were guys. Everyone could keep wearing their costumes, because after the playback show the 90’s party broke loose. Everyone learned to dance to house music this evening, when DJ Paul Elstak showed up. This party was continued in the Nachtwacht in the city centre.
The last full day of Camp Lost had arrived and the first day of September and therefore it was time for Crazy 88. Every team was challenged with 88 crazy assignments where points could be scored. This was also filmed and photographed and created ridiculously funny situations in the city centre. Anyone spotted the big street drawings or was attacked because of their red pants? After a full day of craziness, karaoke couldn’t stay out of the program. A few talents were discovered, as well good singers as good entertainers. The last party started at the campsite with the DJ of the Walkabout and ended in Hangar 20 in the early hours.
Thursday the 2nd of September was a day of cleaning up and laughing at the pictures and videos of the week. Everyone went home tired.
Thanks everyone for an amazing Camp Lost 2010!
